BPI Energy is a growth-oriented, independent energy company engaged in the exploration, production and commercial sale of coalbed methane in the Illinois Basin. The company currently controls the dominant CBM acreage position in the Illinois Basin and recently initiated sales of gas production from its core Delta Project. BPI has a Technical Service Agreement with a subsidiary of BHP Billiton, one of the largest resource companies in the world, with existing CBM operations in Australia and China, under which BPI has exclusive use within the Illinois Basin of Billiton's horizontal drilling technology and expertise for the drilling of CBM wells.
